ViennaLine – precious and rare vintage frame for collectorsModel Frame Germany 1281 color 30 These glasses from the prestigious
Austrian ViennaLine brand, created by Wilhelm Anger in the 1950s, had already been active for a decade in the production of protective glasses for welders and, in the 1960s and 1990s, created acetate frames with a retro, elegant, and unmistakable style. The unique and colorful lines and already vintage taste of ViennaLine frames became famous thanks to the skill of designer Ugo Proksch. Another typical feature of ViennaLine's glamorous style is the CatEye frame with slight upward points at the outer corners; this model later transformed into the butterfly wing style, in which the front unfolds into a more sinuous shape, wide towards the outside and narrow and low towards the nose pad. It was ViennaLine that invented Optyl, a plastic material strong and rigid enough not to require metal supports. The brand always stood out for the great elegance and sinuosity of its shapes, enriched with delicate decorations, which in some cases recalled art nouveau.
